In
the Gillaspy lab, we are interested in how plants sense and respond to
their environment. To get signals from outside of the cell to the nucleus,
both animal and plant cells can use the Phosphoinositide
(PI) signaling pathway. We are interested in how plants use the PI
pathway, and are focusing on the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana
for our studies. This is a small, cruciferous plant which has a short
life cycle, completely sequenced genome, and is amenable to both genetics
and genetic transformation. Our laboratory is located in the Fralin Biotechnology
Center at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. |
