| Information Systems for Biotechnology |
Information Systems for Biotechnology (ISB), a project funded by USDA/CSREES as the National Biological Impact Assessment Program, is an
international information source for agricultural biotechnology. Since
1989, ISB has supported the research community by providing information about agbiotech research and product development, biotechnology regulations, and environmental issues associated with small and large-scale releases of genetically modified organisms. ISB provides searchable databases, documents and resource lists on the Internet, a
monthly News Report, custom software to assist in risk assessment and risk
management, and printed publications.
ISB's monthly News Report contains a selection of original articles reporting research news drawn from the scientific literature, as well as regular features on industry news, regulatory and legal issues, international developments, and Internet resources.
ISB sponsors and conducts conferences and workshops addressing issues concerning, among others, biosafety, biosecurity, and future directions of agbiotech research.
ISB Databases include US field tests of genetically modified plants, international field tests of genetically modified plants, Status of petitions for deregulation of genetically modified plants, Institutional Biosafety Committees, Federal regulators by state, and links to other useful websites.
