The Department of Biochemistry supports students interest in genomics/bioinformatics by providing instruction and laboratory experience in those areas. Students in this emphasis take courses in computer science leading to a minor and selected advanced level classes. Students meet the requirement for a minor in CS and are required to have the following classes in addition to what is required for the BS degree in Biochemistry:
- STAT 3615-3616 Biological Statistics
- BIOL 4075 Bioinformatics Methods
- BCHM 4054 Genomics
- BCHM 4784 Biotechnology Applications
